Keeping baseball FUN is a primary concern of SLYB and Babe Ruth League’s Cal Ripken Division.

All of SLYB regular season games are played at Shillito Park Baseball Fields.

Our Cal Ripken Baseball SPRING League is comprised of Major, Minor, Rookie, T-Ball & Wee-ball divisions, as follows:

Expected Season Dates: Practice to start late August and games in early September...games are once through the week and one on Sunday. 

All  games and practices will be on rotating non-set schedule at our SLYB fields at Shillito Park.

(Playing Ages refer to the age for the Spring 2025 season

Major/Minor  (Playing Ages 9-12) - $110

Rookie (Playing Ages 7-8) - $100

Tee-ball (Playing Ages 5-6)* - $90

Wee-ball (Playing Ages 4-5) - $90

* 7 year olds girls have option to play Tee-Ball....please email to have registration fixed prior to payment. 

Online Registration fees will go up by $20 after deadline dates.  

 

MAJOR LEAGUE (50/70):  For 9-12 year old players, primarily focused on the player with advanced skills and experience looking to play at the highest level of competition.   Players will play on 70' bases and 50' pitching distance.  Registration Fee:  ****SPRING ONLY

MINOR LEAGUE (46/65):  For 9-12 year old players, primarily focused on assisting players with the continued development and refining of their fundamental skills, while they begin to understand game strategy. At this level, the players are introduced to “KID” pitch.  Players will play on 60' bases and 46' pitching distance.  Registration Fee:  $110

***Major and Minor are together in Fall season***

ROOKIE LEAGUE:  For 7 and 8 year old players, teaching the fundamentals of the game and building player confidence.  It is at this level that the players are introduced to “COACH” pitch.  Registration Fee: $100.00

T-BALL LEAGUE:  For 5-6 year olds, focusing on teaching the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. All batters will hit from a batting tee which is adjusted to a height that allows the batter to swing level.  Adult coaches are stationed beyond the infielders in order to provide instruction to all defensive players. The primary goal is to begin to instruct young players in the fundamentals of baseball in a supportive team environment.  Registration Fee: $90.00

WEEBALL LEAGUE: For 4 year olds getting their introduction into the sport of baseball! All batters hit from the tee and receive more assistance in the field from parents and coaches as they learn the game.  Registration fee: $90.00

Other Important Spring Season Information:

• Players Returning to the league and to the same division will be placed on their returning team from the previous year. ***only in Spring Season***
• Registration fee includes a  jersey and hat in all ages, pants provided in weeball/teeball/rookie *****FALL IS JERSEY SHIRT ONLY IN ALL DIVISIONS 
• There is no guarantee of team placement.  We will attempt to honor requests any requests while maintaining balanced teams as much as possible.
• Teams will generally play 2 games a week (during weekdays after 5pm and/or Sundays after midday) and have one to two practices per week.  

Parent Responsibilities: SLYB is entirely run by volunteers and can only continue to operate with the help of parents taking an active role in their child’s activities. All parents must agree to abide by the League rules as well as the rules set forth in the “Altercation Policy” published by the LFUCG Division of Parks & Recreation.  Also, parents are responsible for participating in league fundraisers by selling products or by selecting to pay the pre-determined “buyout” amount.
